About our ministries

Volunteer Process

Thank you for your decision to volunteer with Child Evangelism Fellowship. We are excited about all that God is going to do as churches all across the nation share the Gospel with unchurched children in their communities. Following are some important considerations for all who will volunteer and have direct contact with the children through CEF ministries.
  • The State of Pennsylvania requires volunteers (age 18 and older) to undergo a series of 3 background checks and training in recognizing and reporting child abuse.
  • CEF requires ALL volunteers to complete an application process, including references and a personal interview
  • Upon completion of steps 1-4 below, workers will receive an official CEF nametag that must be worn during times of service

There are three easy steps required for volunteer participation:

STEP 1: APPLY FOR PENNSYLVANIA STATE CLEARANCES

The Pennsylvania Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse History Clearance are free for volunteers once every 57 months. Providing CEF copies of valid clearances obtained for other purposes are acceptable. These clearance applications can be completed online at the links listed below or may be submitted via US Postal Service. For help in completing the process online, contact the CEF office at 814-938-9206.

STEP 2: COMPLETE CEF WORKER APPLICATION PROCESS

Complete the following:

  • Read the Statement of Faith
  • Read the Child Protection Policy
  • Watch the 12-minute "Protecting Today’s Child" presentation or listen at 1-866-878-4182
  • Read and sign the Worker's Compliance Agreement
  • Complete the Confidential Screening Form. Information needed for completion includes: your salvation testimonyreference contact information including name, phone, and email(this should include: pastor or church leader, previous employer, and two personal references. No relatives please. If volunteering for a specific Good News Club, please use the club leader(s) for your personal references), and a clear copy of your Driver’s License (or photo ID)

STEP 3: ID CHECK AND INTERVIEW

This step will be completed by your CEF representative at an orientation meeting, prior to serving.

  • You will be required to show a photo ID (driver's license, passport, or school ID) and answer a few interview questions.
  • Once this step is complete, you will receive your nametag, indicating that you are a screened volunteer.

STEP 4: NATIONAL CRIME DATABASE CHECK

This final step will be completed by your CEF representative with your permission.

Thank you for volunteering to reach boys and girls with the Good News of Jesus Christ! May God bless you as you faithfully serve Him!
